We are very excited
because we are learning about the stages of the life cycle of a frog
with real tadpoles!!! Do you want to see how they develop?
TADPOLES: STAGE 1.
We’ve got 4 tadpoles. They were born in April in a pond. Now they’re living in a fish tank in our classroom.
In the first part of their lives they live in the water and they breathe through their gills. They’ve got a long tail.
TADPOLES: STAGE 2.
Back legs are growing!! Can you see them?
Everyday we feed them. In the pond they usually eat tiny plants (algae), but now we’re feeding them with fish food.
FROGLETS: STAGE 3.
Now
they’ve got front legs! The lungs are starting to develop, as in a near
future the frogs will have a life on land. In fact, we can see them
wiggling to the surface to breath in air.
FROG: STAGE 4.
We have a fully developed frog!!!. From now on this tiny frog will begin to eat insects and worms.
It's time for us to say goodbye to our little animal, as it will return to the pond again to find a mate and survive by itself.
